Does silkscreen extending outside of the board outline count as PCB area? (1 reply and 1 comment)

Greetings Mark,
Just saw this, and i can tell you that the silkscreen outside the PCB outline is fine. I've done it many times with the Miniboard service (last week is the most recent) and there is never any problem. The silkscreen outside the board outline in your PCB file is simply not there when you get the boards!
All the best,
Sam
Thanks for the reply, Sam. For my most recent order, I just modified my custom PCB component to omit the overhanging portion. But, for my next order, I'll just let it all hang out. 🙂 Much appreciated!
I've created a custom PCB component whose silkscreen outline may hang over the edge of the board (outside the board outline), but all of its electrical pads and holes are well within the board outline. Will this prevent me from using the MiniboardPlus (i.e., standard 3.8 inch x 2.5 inch) service? In other words, will the overhanging component outline/silkscreen be considered to be part of the board outline? Or will ExpressPCB ignore/clip the silkscreen outside the board outline (preferred). Thanks in advance.
