Creating 4 layer boards (1 reply)
Yes you can change from 2 layer to 4 layer. Just go to Board Properties and select 4 layer then you can change the connections of your pads to connect to the layers you want them to. You do not have to ungroup the component to make the conection.
I started a 2 layer board and decided I need to switch to 4 layers. Is there a good tutorial on this? When should you use the options in the top and bottom pad shape menus? I am using standard ICs, not SMTs. On a stock IC template, would I have to ungroup it and select the power pad and assign it to the power plane and select the ground pin and assign it to the ground plane?
I'm also curious how the IC holes go the whole way through the board so you can solder the IC on the bottom plane, but the ground and power holes would connect to their respective planes?
